Can XCENT customize the web server applications for my site? Can XCENT create a custom application for me?
Yes, XCENT can provide customized versions of our web server applications specifically designed for your site as well as completely custom solutions. If you have never had custom development done before, please realize that like any custom product, the software can certainly be tailored to your exact needs or specifications, but it is a moderately higher price than a pre-built solution like our standard web server applications.
When starting any customization projects, the first step is defining exactly what you need or want. From this, we can prepare an itemized time/cost estimate for you. The process to prepare an itemized time/cost estimate can be very involved and take some significant time to research. The more functionality you need, potentially the longer amount of time it is going to take to research and prepare a response for your request. So please keep in mind that responses to customization inquiries can easily take 72 hours, not including weekends or holidays.
In order to let you know how to help us best provide you with what you need, here are a few additional things to keep in mind about your customization requests. You can never be too detailed! To more detail you provide, the more accurately we can gauge your time/cost estimate. Also, it can help to weight the importance or a particular feature that you want is. When you provide that type of information, then we might be able to break your estimate down into further detail and break out certain parts that might add a significant amount of cost but not be as important to you. A key thing to remember is that sometimes what might seem to be a simple feature can actually be a very significant amount of work, so it pays to know what your options are. If you are looking for a particular design style or layout, any type of mockup that helps to convey what you would like will help us in delivering exactly what you would like. A mockup can be anything from a simple sketch on paper (you can scan and email these or even fax them), to a visual HTML or graphic mockup. If your mockup is not standard HTML or a GIF, JPG, or other standard format image, it might be best to convert it to one of these or a PDF document. Otherwise please be sure to let us know what file format or application you used to generate it.
Also please keep in mind that we cannot provide a time/cost estimate for requests like "I just want a site like www.example.com". Unless we are extremely familiar with all of the nuances of the site in question, then we would have to guess at which functionality is important to you and it would be easy for anyone to miss certain features that might not be immediately obvious to all users of such a site. Particularly when it comes to any related administrative or maintenance features of the site. So, even if you are looking to duplicate functionality on a site you saw somewhere else, we still need you to document exactly what features are important for you. This is also for your protection as well as ours.
When you are ready to submit a customization request, or if you have any questions before you do so, please contact us by clicking on the contact link on our site and we will be glad to assist you as best we can.
