Question What is the difference between and update and and upgrade? How do I get an update to a product? How do I get an upgrade to a product?

Answer Both updates and upgrades mean a new version of the application has been released. We try to use the terms update and upgrade to help differentiate the severity of the version changes. XCENT applications use a version number in the format X.Y.Z. This three part version number is broken down such that X refers to the major version number. The Y refers to the minor version number. And Z refers to the revision number.

An update is a change in the minor version number or revision number of the application. Both are considered a minor version change and is a free update for registered users. Free updates are automatically sent to registered users at their registered email address. If for some reason you did not receive an update, another copy can be requested from XCENT support.

An upgrade is a change in the major version number. Changes in the major version number typically indicate the introduction of significant changes in or additions to the application. Major version upgrades are not free and do incur an upgrade fee for existing registered users. Upgrade fees are significantly discounted from the full cost of the application. Upgrades can be order right on the XCENT web site store.
