Question I read the license agreement for the web server applications, but I'm not clear on if I can legally make my own modifications or additions to the scripts.

Answer Yes, absolutely you can. Our web server applications are tools that you can use as they come, or as a basis for your project. What the license agreements limit you to, is that by making modifications to the script, you cannot change the terms of the license agreement. You cannot remove the XCENT copyright notices from the source code (which is not visible on your web site). And you cannot distribute any of the files you received from XCENT (in whole or part) even if you have changed them unless you are also transferring the license for the application. For example, if you are a developer and purchase a license for your client, you can cerainly make whatever changes you need and deliver it to your client - provided you transfer the license to your client.

The free downloads come with an additional limitation in that you may not remove the XCENT name or link from the browser display. The commercial scripts do not have that requirement. If you want to use the free scripts, to keep with the licensing terms, the link to XCENT must remain in the script or else be displayed prominently on your site.

Note: If you make modifications to the scripts, XCENT is unable to provide technical support for your own customizations. You should also realize that customizations would be overwritten if you install upgraded versions of the scripts that get released. If you need support for your own customizations, XCENT can provide hourly consultation upon your request.
